The University of Cincinnati volleyball team extended its winning streak to six matches with a four-set victory over Morehead State on Saturday in Morehead, Ky.

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team extended its winning streak to six matches with a four-set victory over Morehead State on Saturday in Morehead, Ky.

The Bearcats concluded non-conference play with a 9-2 record, their most non-conference wins since the 2018 season. Cincinnati is also on its longest winning streak since 2019, when they clinched 11 straight victories. UC will now turn its attention to Big 12 play, which is slated to begin Wednesday at West Virginia.
 
Sophomore Sydney Nolan delivered a standout performance, racking up a career-high 19 kills at a .429 hitting percentage. She added 13 digs for her third straight double-double, fourth of the season.
 
Redshirt sophomore Ligia Williams had her first double-digit kill performance of the season, tallying 12 kills at an impressive .524 clip. Senior Katelyn Lefler added her third straight double-double, fourth of the season, with 48 assists and 11 digs.
 
Defensively, Faith Frame and Julie Wittekind anchored the backline with a combined 26 digs while Abby Walker registered a match-high seven blocks. 
 
Cincinnati got off to a slow start, dropping the first set, 25-20. The Bearcats trailed by as many as four in the early going (8-4). A pair of scoring runs evened the set at nine all. In a one-point match (17-16), Morehead State pieced together back-to-back points on three occasions to secure the win. Nolan was a bright spot, posting seven kills at a .583 clip in the opening stanza.
 
Cincinnati used four runs of three-or-more points to win the second set, 25-20. They carried the momentum into the third frame, ending the set on a 6-2 scoring run, 25-15.
 
After UC took a 14-8 lead in the fourth set, Morehead State responded with five straight points to pull within one (14-13). The Bearcats quickly bounced back with a 4-0 run, highlighted by three kills from Carly Glendinning. Cincinnati went on to win the frame, 25-20, and match, 3-1.
