CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program defeated Kansas State, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon inside Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats picked up their first Big 12 conference win of the season and improved to 5-4-1 (1-2), while the Wildcats dropped to 3-6-1 (0-3) overall.

Cincinnati got off to a strong start, opening the scoring in the 16th minute through fifth-year player Lauren Bastian. Bastian earned her first goal of the season alongside four shots after being out of the Bearcat lineup due to injury.

In the first half, UC dominated with nine shots while keeping Kansas State from registering any attempts. This marked the second time this season the Bearcat defense has held their opponent to zero shots in one half.
Quickly after the break, the Wildcats notched the equalizer just 39 seconds into the second half.

In the 68th minute, junior Coley Sidloski secured Cincinnati's victory by scoring her lone goal in the honorary "We Play For 3" game, named after her sister, and former Bearcat, Ally.

"That was surreal. I had tears in my eyes as soon as that went into the back of the net.", Sidloski said.

After the game, the Sidloski family presented their memorial scholarship to junior Maddie Swingle for embodying the true qualities of "Playing for 3". Along with this presentation, the 150 UC student-athletes who were awarded the "Bearcat Strong" award were honored during halftime.

Cincinnati will travel to Arizona for a two-match road stint against Arizona on Thurs. before traveling to Tempe to take on the Arizona State on Sunday.
