The Bearcats move to 4-2-1 before entering conference play while Xavier improved to 7-0-1. Both defenses battled hard throughout the full 90 minutes of play, but the Musketeers struck first with a goal in the 23rd minute.
Xavier looked to extend their lead, but fifth year goalkeeper Anna Rexford executed two, tough back-to-back saves to keep the Bearcats energy alive. Rexford finished with five total saves. This marks the 21st game of her career with five or more saves.
Cincinnati struggled offensively, recording its first, and only, shot of the match in the 64th minute.
