MIAMI, Fla. – The University of Cincinnati women's golf team set a program record for the lowest tournament score, carding an 847, to finish second in the Pat Bradley Invitational. The team also set a record for a low round score, posting a score of 275 in Tuesday's final round after achieving that mark with a 281 in Monday's opener.
"I am super proud of our ladies this week," head coach Aimee Ponte said. "Hard work, trust and belief in themselves is a huge part of this result. This team loves each other, and they play for one another. This is just the beginning!"
All five Bearcats finished in the top-25, a first of the Ponte era. Junior Mar García led UC, posting carding a career-low, 2-under 69 in the final round. She completed the tournament at two-under par (211) and finished tied for sixth place, both marking her best as a Bearcat.
Graduate student Ruby Chou had a strong showing as well, carding a team-high 12 birdies in the tournament and finished at one-under par (212) and tied for ninth place. It was her second top-10 finish in three events this fall, which included seventh at Kansas State in her UC debut.
Yu-Wei Chiang (14), Rim Imni (20) and Maggie Huett (T25) followed in order. Chiang's 68 on Tuesday was a career-low, and it was the highest finish of the year for all three.
UC finished second comfortably by 11 strokes. Florida Gulf Coast won both the team title and individual title. Lousiane Gauthier posted a tournament-best six-under par (207).
The Bearcats will next travel to Lawrence, Kan. to compete in the Marilynn Smith Invitational on Oct. 7-8.
