AMES, Iowa – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program battled to a draw, 0-0, with Iowa State on Thursday inside Iowa State Sports Complex.
The Bearcats improved to 6-6-2 (2-4-1) while the Cyclones move to 3-6-5 (1-2-3). This marks Cincinnati's second draw on the season.
The match saw intense physicality for the entire 90 minutes, with Cincinnati tallying 13 fouls to Iowa State's 12. Iowa State drew three yellow cards, while Cincinnati received three.
Both goalkeepers stayed composed, keeping clean sheets in the first 45 minutes. Cincinnati managed to get off 10 shots and earned five corner kicks. Juniors Megan Smith and Claire Rea each tallied three shots on goal.
In the 53rd minute, Iowa State found themselves in a penalty kick opportunity, but the ball bounced off fifth year goalkeeper Anna Rexford's left knee. She has 37 saves on the year and 242 in her career, the fifth-most in program history.
