Cincinnati Falls to No. 8 Kansas

The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell to eighth-ranked Kansas on Saturday inside Fifth Third Arena.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell to eighth-ranked Kansas on Saturday inside Fifth Third Arena.
 
The Bearcats (11-5, 2-3 Big 12) were swept by the Jayhawks (14-1, 5-0 Big 12).
 
Cincinnati, without starting setter Katelyn Lefler, used a 6-2 rotation featuring setters Caroline Endres and Janelle Green. It marked the season debut for freshman Green. Endres dished out a season-high 22 assists while Green finished with seven.
 
Sophomore middle blocker Zeta Washington did not commit an attacking error, finishing with seven kills on 10 attempts (.700). Right sides Irbe Lazda (7) and Gretchen Sigman (4) chipped in season highs in kills.
 
Reigning Big 12 Rookie of the Week Faith Frame posted her eighth straight match with double-digit digs. She finished with a match-high 13.
 
Kansas rattled off five straight points to lead 14-9 in the first set. The Bearcats pulled within three after a Glendinning kill (18-15). The Jayhawks responded with three straight to pull away with the frame, 25-21.
 
The Jayhawks used a 6-0 run to cruise to the second-set win, 25-11. The Bearcats struggled to find a rhythm on offense, hitting -.097. Kansas hit .421 on the other side of the net.
 
Cincinnati kept the third set close to start. They were within two at the media timeout (15-13), thanks to a pair of kills from Washington. With Sigman behind the service line, the Bearcats took the lead after a 3-0 spurt (16-15). The Jayhawks immediately responded with a 10-2 run to end the set (25-18).
