KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 12th-seeded University of Cincinnati women's soccer program fell, 3-2, in the first round of the Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship to fifth-seeded Oklahoma State on Wednesday morning inside CPKC Stadium.
The Bearcats (6-9-4, 2-6-3) were unable to hold on to a 2-0 lead heading into the final 30 minutes of play. All five total goals came in the second half with Cincinnati out front first with a goal from freshman Rylee Felton in the 51st minute.
Cincinnati gained a surge of energy thanks to freshman Jada Arthurs who tallied her first collegiate goal in the 66th minute, extending UC's lead to 2-0.
In the final minutes of the match, Oklahoma State was able to score three unanswered goals, nailing the game-winning goal with less than two minutes on the clock.
Fifth year Anna Rexford finished with four saves and remained between the pipes for the full 90 minutes, notching her 82nd consecutive career start.
Alongside Rexford, Cincinnati had six players remain on the pitch for the full 90 minutes (Carly Oubs, Emma Gioffre, Lauren Bastian, Faith Broering, Emma Schmelzer and Maddie Swingle).
