CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team was swept by ninth-ranked Arizona State on Saturday inside Fifth Third Arena.
 
The Bearcats (13-12, 4-10 Big 12) could not overcome a Sun Devils' offense that hit .274 with 44 kills and only 12 errors. Cincinnati finished with a .113 hitting percentage (31k-18e-115a).

UC held the advantage in digs (57-54) thanks to double-digit efforts from Faith Frame (15) and Gretchen Sigman (10). Frame has tallied 10-plus digs in 18 matches this season. 
 
Sophomore Zeta Washington posted seven kills and two blocks while senior Abby Walker had four kills on eight attempts (.500) to go along with four blocks. Walker is now two kills away from 1,000 in her career. 

A kill by Washington brought the Bearcats within one in the first set (11-10). The Sun Devils then rattled off three straight points and led 15-11 at the media timeout. Lilly Gillespie recorded back-to-back aces to cut UC's deficit to five (19-14). The Bearcats did not get any closer than that, falling 25-16.
 
The Sun Devils jumped out to a 9-4 advantage in the second set. Cincinnati pulled within five after a pair of ASU attack errors (19-14). The Sun Devils ended up winning the stanza, 25-16. Fallon Stewart checked in for the Bearcats during the frame and had two kills on three attempts.
 
Cincinnati went on a 3-0 scoring run early in the third set (11-10). The stretch featured a block from Washington and Stewart and ace from Julie Wittekind. The Bearcats continued to fight, ultimately tying the set at 16-all. The run saw UC win a minute-long rally thanks to the defensive efforts of Frame. The Sun Devils went on a late 4-0 run to pull away with the frame 25-21.
