HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell in four sets to Houston on Friday night inside the Fertitta Center.

The Bearcats move to 12-9 overall and 3-7 in the Big 12.

Junior Carly Glendinning led the offense with a match-high 18 kills. She has led the team in kills in 14 matches this season and recorded double-digit kills 15 times. Senior Katelyn Lefler finished with her eighth double-double of the season, posting 36 assists and 11 digs.

The defensive trio of Faith Frame (18 digs), Lilly Gillespie (11 digs) and Julie Wittekind (10 digs) combined for 39 digs. Frame has recorded 10-or-more digs in 16 matches while Gillespie has posted double figures in the category in the last three contests. Fellow freshman Gretchen Sigman had her first career double-digit dig outing with 10. The Bearcats were plus-6 in the category (72-66).

Cincinnati used a 4-0 scoring run to take a three-point lead in set one (11-8). Back-to-back kills from Fallon Stewart kept UC up by three (17-14). Houston came back to tie up the set at 23-all. A pair of kills from Abby Walker and Glendinning gave UC the set win in extras, 28-26.

Houston jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the second set. The Bearcats were forced to use their second timeout trailing 13-3. The deficit proved too large to overcome as UC dropped the set, 25-9.

Trailing 24-17 in the third set, the Bearcats fought off seven set points to even the frame at 24-all. The run was powered by Gillespie behind the service line. The comeback attempt fell short as the Cougars held on to win it, 26-24.
