MANHATTAN, Kan. – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team fell to 13th-ranked Kansas State on Sunday inside Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kan.
The Bearcats (8-3, 0-1 Big 12) went on a 21-2 run to pull within 11 in the fourth quarter before ultimately falling to the Wildcats, 76-59.
The Bearcats shot 31.3% from the field (21-67 FG) and made six three-pointers (.316). UC won the rebounding battle (41-38) and pulled down 13 offensive boards.
Kansas State finished 50% from the floor (29-58 FG) and made nine 3-pointers (.529).
Freshman Chloe Mann scored 13 points while junior A'riel Jackson added 11. The duo combined for five of UC's six 3-pointers. Redshirt junior Alliance Ndiba contributed seven rebounds, six points and two blocks.
Cincinnati jumped out to a 6-3 lead thanks to a pair of blocks from Ndiba and a steal-and-score from Tineya Hylton. K-State responded with an 11-2 run to lead after one (14-8).
The Wildcats rattled off seven straight points to lead by 13 in the second quarter. Cincinnati made four straight free throws to stop the KSU run (23-14). Mann hit a pair of three-pointers to cut UC's deficit to 12 at the break (36-24). Mann paced the Bearcats with nine points and three rebounds in the first half.
K-State opened the second half on a 16-0 run. Cincinnati responded with a 13-2 stretch to end the third quarter (57-38). The run featured two threes from A'riel Jackson and one from Reagan Jackson.
The Bearcats carried the momentum into the fourth quarter, scoring the first eight points. In total, UC went on a 21-2 run to pull within 11 with 8:13 on the clock (57-46). The Bearcats would not get any closer for the remainder of the game, falling 76-59.
