CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team tips off the home portion of its Big 12 schedule on New Year's Day, hosting BYU at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Fifth Third Arena.

THE RUNDOWN
  • The Bearcats opened Big 12 play on the road against then-No. 13 Kansas State on Dec. 22, falling 76-59. Cincinnati trailed by as many as 30 before a 21-2 run cut the deficit to 11 with 8:13 left in the fourth quarter.
  • Cincinnati outrebounded Kansas State 41-38 and collected 13 offensive rebounds but struggled to overcome the Wildcats' 50% shooting from the field.
  • Freshman Chloe Mann led the Bearcats with 13 points against K-State. Her parents both competed for Kansas State and were in attendance for the game. Mann is averaging 12.0 points over her last two outings and has been the Bearcats' fourth different leading scorer in the last four games. She also ranks third in the Big 12 in free throw percentage (.878).
  • Junior A'riel Jackson hit a career-high three 3-pointers against Kansas State and finished with 11 points, marking her 15th career double-digit scoring performance.
  • Fifth year Jillian Hayes is averaging nearly a double-double with 16.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game while shooting 43.6% from the field. Her six double-doubles are tied for the lead in the Big 12 and rank 17th nationally. She also sits second in the Big 12 in rebounding and free throws made and 14th in scoring.
  • Hayes is 21 points shy of becoming the 10th Bearcat in program history to reach 1,500 career points. She has set a career best this season with four 20-point games.
  • Sophomore Reagan Jackson is averaging 13.0 points while shooting 49% from the field over the last five games. She erupted for a career-high 29 points vs. Western Illinois, shooting 10-of-13 from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.
  • Senior guard Tineya Hylton has posted seven double-digit scoring performances this season, including four 20-point outings in the first eight games.
  • Redshirt junior Alliance Ndiba has been a consistent force in the paint, averaging 7.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. She has led the team in rebounds in four games this season, including the last two.
  • Among active career Division I leaders, Hayes ranks 10th in FTs (461), 17th in rebounds (952) and 30th in double-doubles (29).
  • Cincinnati leads the Big 12 in free throw percentage at 78% and ranks fifth nationally with 18 made free throws per game. Hayes leads the team in free throws made, which ranks second in the conference.
  • Cincinnati has twice made 31 free throws in a game this season, the highest single-game total in the Big 12. It marks the program's best since converting 32 free throws against DePaul on February 8, 2001.
  • The Bearcats are forcing 19.3 turnovers per game and remain unbeaten (6-0) when committing fewer turnovers than their opponents. They rank fourth in the Big 12 in steals, with Hylton leading the way at nearly two per game.
  • Turnover margin has been a decisive factor for the Bearcats, as they average just 10.0 turnovers per game in wins compared to 18.7 in losses. Cincinnati's +6.9 turnover margin ranks second in the Big 12 and 25th nationally.
  • The Bearcats secured their best non-conference winning percentage (.800, 8-2) since the 2005-06 season (.909, 10-1).
