CINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati student-athletes Ody Oguama (men's basketball) and Carly Glendinning (volleyball) were named the Jean Stephens Memorial Award honorees for this school year. Oguama, because of the ceremony taking place during Tuesday's game against No. 10 Iowa State, was honored pregame, with the full recognition at halftime.

ABOUT THE JEAN STEPHENS AWARD
In 1999, UC Athletics lost one of its most loyal and dedicated staff members, Jean Stephens. Two years later, to recognize and promote the qualities Stephens exemplified in her 15 years of service, the Jean Stephens Memorial Award was instituted to recognize a female and male student-athlete for their high integrity, high ethical standards, respect for all persons and commitment to both UC Athletics and the University of Cincinnati.

The complete list of all-time honorees can be found here.

ODY OGUAMA: GRAD STUDENT, MEN'S BASKETBALL
Oguama is a third-year member of the men's basketball program, earning his degree last May and starting 29 games in all. He was the team's Defensive MVP last season and has been a popular figure in the community, including going above and beyond at the team's summer camps.
  • From his nomination:
  • "Ody is a great teammate and student-athlete. He lifts all of his teammates in times of need and keeps a positive mindset at all times. He always has a smile on his face, and it's infectious to others in the program. He is a great student and is consistent with his attendance and attitude, listening to his academic advisors and coaches."
CARLY GLENDINNING, JUNIOR, VOLLEYBALL
Glendinning jumped onto the scene early for the Bearcats, notching All-AAC Second Team honors as a freshman in 2022 and continuing her success in the Big 12 this past fall. She boasted a season-high 16 kills against Oklahoma and finished third on the team in that category.
  • From her nomination:
  • "She is a consummate worker always striving to be the VERY BEST at all she does in the Lindner College of Business and on the volleyball court for us. This year was an exceptionally challenging one for her. To start the season, we had significant depth in the outside position, Carly's natural position. She was asked to take on a different role for the team. It challenged her in a way she had not been challenged before. Her commitment to excellence and personal drive for perfection propelled her forward with a positive attitude during these times. This approach helped her in the long run."
