Cincinnati Welcomes #21 Baylor to Fifth Third Tuesday

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team plays its final regular season home game on Tuesday night, hosting No. 21-ranked Baylor at 6 p.m. inside Fifth Third Arena.

  • Cincinnati snapped a four-game losing skid with a 68-56 road win over Texas Tech on Saturday. A big second quarter (22-10) fueled the Bearcats to a win in which they led by as many as 22. The Bearcats picked up their second season sweep of a conference opponent to improve to 13-14 overall, 5-11 in the Big 12.
  • Cincinnati improved to 8-1 when holding an opponent to 59 points or less. The Bearcats held the Lady Raiders to 33% from the floor and 24% from behind the arc.
  • UC won the rebounding battle for the 13th time in Big 12 play, owning a plus-14 advantage on the glass (45-31) which resulted in 17 second-chance points.
  • Four Bearcats finished in double figures vs. Texas Tech, led by Texas native Reagan Jackson's 16 points and career-high four three-pointers. It marked her 11th game in double figures this season and seventh time leading the team in scoring.
  • Senior Jillian Hayes poured in her ninth double-double of the season with 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds vs. TTU. She averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two games last week. She ranked eighth in rebounding and 10th in scoring among Big 12 players for the week.
  • Sophomore A'riel Jackson recorded 14 points and a career-high seven rebounds vs. TTU. She has been a spark for the Bearcats in Big 12 action, averaging 10.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists. She also ranks ninth in the league in free throw percentage (.795). 
  • Hayes is averaging nearly a double-double with 12.9 points and 8.7 rebounds and is shooting 43.1% from the field this season. She sits third in the Big 12 and 66th nationally in rebounding (8.7).
  • Senior Malea Williams sits ninth in the Big 12 in blocks per game (1.0). She has recorded seven multi-block performances and has led the team in blocks 14 times this season. She currently ranks sixth in blocks (93) in program history.
  • Cincinnati has outrebounded its opponent in 19 games this season and has either won or matched the rebounding battle in 13 of its 16 Big 12 contests (+4.2 margin). The Bearcats are plus-30 in rebounding in their last two games (94-64) and have pulled down a combined 38 offensive rebounds.
  • UC sits first in the league and 17th in the country in offensive rebounds per game (15.0). In Big 12 games only, the Bearcats lead the league with 14.1 offensive boards per game. Cincinnati has recorded 20-plus offensive rebounds in four Big 12 games.
  • Cincinnati has made 593 trips to the free throw line this season, making 426 of its attempts (.718). The Bearcats lead the Big 12 and rank 15th nationally in free throws made per game (15.8).
  • Hayes is getting to the free throw line at a high rate, making the most foul shots in the Big 12 (128-178 FT). She sits 12th in the league in free throw percentage (.732) despite shooting 66.4% from the stripe in Big 12 play. Her 128 free throws made are tied for ninth in program history for a single season while her 178 attempts rank sixth.
  • Cincinnati is 12-0 when leading at the half, and 11-0 when leading with five minutes remaining. Conversely, the Bearcats are 1-14 when trailing at the break, and 1-14 when trailing with five minutes to go. The Bearcats overcame a first-half deficit for the first time this season at UCF (Feb. 7).
