TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team started its 2025 schedule by sweeping Eastern Kentucky 7-0 at the Western Athletic on Friday afternoon.
Cincinnati started the match strong by securing the doubles point.
Sophomores Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe started things off with a victory on court two against Zhansaya Bakytzhan and Marilou Cote, 6-3.
The doubles point was clinched on court three. Junior Callie Flanagan and sophomore Gabrielle Guenther defeated Izem Elif Olcer and Sasha Parkhomenko, 6-1.
The Bearcats built off their double's momentum in singles, securing all six matches.
Graduate student Zeynep Erman took care of business early on as she took down Masha Fedenko in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
The victory was sealed when Guenther completed her match on court three against Marillou Cote, 7-6 (4), 6-2.
