CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team hits the road for the first time this season to take on Indiana at the IU Tennis Center on Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Bearcats dominated their season opener on Friday, sweeping Eastern Kentucky 7-0 at the Western Athletic Club.
Sophomores Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe kicked off the match with a 6-3 doubles win on court two against Zhansaya Bakytzhan and Marilou Cote. The doubles point was secured on court three, where junior Callie Flanagan and sophomore Gabrielle Guenther delivered a decisive 6-1 victory over Izem Elif Olcer and Sasha Parkhomenko.
Riding the momentum from doubles, Cincinnati swept all six singles matches. Graduate student Zeynep Erman set the tone with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win over Masha Fedenko. The match was clinched on court three, where Guenther sealed the deal with a 7-6 (4), 6-2 triumph against Marilou Cote.

This matchup marks Indiana's season opener. Last season, the Hoosiers had a 6-20 record and went 0-11 in Big 10 play.
Elisabeth Dunac led the way in singles, notching a record of 10-10 in the 2024 spring play.
In doubles, the pair of Lara Schneider and Nicole Teodosescu secured a team-best 6-1 record.
