CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team returns home Wednesday night against Houston. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. inside Fifth Third Arena.
 
THE RUNDOWN
  • Cincinnati overcame its fourth double-digit deficit of the season, rallying from an 11-point hole to defeat Arizona State 73-66. The Bearcats dominated the fourth quarter 29-13 and are outscoring Big 12 opponents 169-123 in the final frame.
  • Jillian Hayes spearheaded the comeback, scoring 14 of her game-high 25 points in the fourth. She also became UC's all-time leader in free throws made with 509, surpassing Madinah Slaise (503, 1996-00). She set career highs with 13 free throws made on 21 attempts, while contributing nine rebounds, five steals and four assists.
  • Freshman Chloe Mann shined in her first career start, scoring a career-high 17 points and dishing out a career-high five assists. She is shooting 43.5% from deep and averaging 12.5 points over her last four games. She's also top 10 in the Big 12 for free throw percentage (.806).
  • Tineya Hylton has scored in double figures in four straight games, including a pair of 20-point outings. She is averaging 20.0 points while shooting 47.3% from the floor (25-55 FG) and 79% from the line (23-29 FT) over her last four games.
  • Cincinnati capitalized at the free throw line, converting 28-of-39 attempts (.718), a Big 12 season high. The Bearcats lead the Big 12 and rank third nationally in made free throws per game (17.7). They're 12-3 when making more free throws than their opponents.
  • Cincinnati won the turnover battle for the 12th time this season (+10 vs. Arizona State) and improved to 10-2 when committing fewer turnovers. UC forces 19.4 turnovers per game, ranking third in the Big 12, with a +6.8 turnover margin (second in the Big 12, 23rd nationally).
  • Hayes and Hylton accounted for 81 of Cincinnati's 135 points during the two-game road trip in Arizona. Known as the "heartbeat" and "engine" of the Bearcats, respectively, Hayes and Hylton have led the team in scoring 16 times this season. Hayes has tallied seven 20-point games, while Hylton has added six of her own.
  • Hayes is averaging nearly a double-double with 16.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game while shooting 41.8% from the field this season. Her eight double-doubles rank second in the Big 12 and 32nd nationally. She also sits second in the league in rebounding and 11th in scoring.
  • Alliance Ndiba ranks ninth in the Big 12 in blocking (1.3 BPG) and eighth in rebounding (7.3 RPG). She has led the Bearcats in blocks 10 times this season and in rebounding on five occasions.
  • The Bearcats have logged four double-digit comeback wins this season, including their latest against Arizona State on Jan. 25. They're 9-1 this season and 17-2 under Coach Merriweather when holding opponents to 59 points or fewer.
  • UC leads the Big 12 in offensive rebounds per game (14.4) during conference play and ranks second overall (14.2).
  • Among active career Division I leaders, Hayes ranks first in FT attempts (731), third in FTs made (509), 14th in rebounds (1,013) and 31st in double-doubles (31).
  • The Bearcats secured their best non-conference winning percentage (.800, 8-2) since the 2005-06 season (.909, 10-1).
  • Cincinnati is ranked 69th nationally in the Jan. 27 NET.
