CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati Director of Athletics John Cunningham announced on Friday the promotion of John Daniel to Senior Deputy Athletics Director.
 
In this expanded role, Daniel will take on significant new oversight of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) initiatives, ticket office operations, the equipment department and student-athlete revenue-sharing opportunities in addition to his current duties overseeing football and all department business operations.

John's leadership will be pivotal in driving revenue generation, which is vital to the long-term success of our athletics programs."
 
Daniel will serve as the senior athletics administrator charged with managing all NIL efforts, including student-athlete operations, to maximize opportunities for Bearcats.
 
He will help lead the onboarding of Cincy Sports Partners, UC Athletics' new sponsorship division.
 
The Baton Rouge native will continue to oversee the department budget and capital projects, while serving the university's administration and finance office in a dual report role.

Daniel joined the Bearcats in 2022 as Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director and CFO, serving as the administrative oversight for football since that time. Currently, he is spearheading the $134 million indoor practice facility and performance center project, which will elevate Cincinnati Athletics' training, sports performance and nutrition facilities to the top of the Big 12. The facility is set to open this summer.
 
Daniel has more than 15 years of administrative experience at Power Four institutions, including serving as an Associate AD at LSU and TCU.
