CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati, donors, media and the community welcomed their new head volleyball coach Danijela Tomić with an introductory press conference on Thursday morning.

The Bearcats 13th head coach in program history was welcomed with a resounding cheer from the crowd, featuring friends, staff and student-athletes.

Director of Athletics John Cunningham opened the event by highlighting the qualities the search committee prioritized in a new head coach and explained why Coach Tomić was the ideal fit for the program.

"It was her thoughtfulness, her honesty and her gratitude as a coach and that competitive burn that won the day for the entire committee," said Cunningham. "She loves the game of volleyball, it oozes out of her, and more importantly, she loves to teach the game of volleyball."

Coach Tomić then took the stage, delivering a heartfelt and insightful opening statement that offered a glimpse into her coaching philosophy and gratitude for the opportunity.

"My vision for Cincinnati volleyball is rooted in three simple but powerful ideas: dream big, believe big, become big," said Tomić. "I want our program to dream big. To set audacious goals and embrace the idea that there are no limits to what we can achieve together."

She reinforced her commitment to building a championship culture, one that thrives on hard work, accountability and an unshakable belief in the program's potential.

"Being in the Big 12 means we face some of the biggest, best programs in the country and that's exactly where we want to be. Our goals are clear, we will aspire to win a Big 12 championship and make deep runs in the NCAA Tournament and yes, chase a national championship."
