CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team opens a three-game homestand Wednesday night against Iowa State. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. ET inside Fifth Third Arena.

THE RUNDOWN
  • The Bearcats look to bounce back after falling to Baylor, 98-59, on Sunday in Waco. Freshman Chloe Mann and fifth-year Jillian Hayes led the way, combining for 41 of Cincinnati's 59 points.
  • Mann recorded a career-high 26 points, going 8-of-22 from the field and 10-of-13 from the free throw line. It marked the highest-scoring performance by a Bearcat freshman since Shelly Bellman also tallied 26 on Jan. 25, 2006.
  • Hayes added 15 points, marking her 16th double-digit scoring effort this season. She has recorded nine double-doubles on the year (32 career) and eight 20-point performances (18 career). Over her last four games, Hayes has averaged 20.3 points and 11.3 rebounds, including a 21-point, 18-rebound outing vs. Houston — the first by a Bearcat since Marley Hill in 2014.
  • Tineya Hylton has reached double figures in five of the last six games, including three 20-point performances. During that stretch, she is averaging 17.3 points while shooting 45% from the floor (36-80 FG) and 78.8% from the line (26-33 FT).
  • Known as the 'heartbeat' (Hayes) and 'engine' (Hylton) of the Bearcats, the duo has led Cincinnati in scoring 17 times this season. Against Houston, they both scored 20-plus points, marking the third time this season they have accomplished the feat together. It was also the first time since 2014 that two Bearcats recorded at least 20 points and seven rebounds in the same game.
  • Cincinnati leads the Big 12 and ranks second nationally in free throws made per game (17.95). The Bearcats are 13-4 when making more free throws than their opponent, averaging 21.2 FTMs in wins versus 11.5 in losses.
  • The Bearcats rank second in the Big 12 in turnover margin (+6.1, 25th nationally) and fourth in turnovers forced (18.6 per game). They are 11-2 when committing fewer turnovers than their opponent.
  • Hayes is averaging nearly a double-double with 16.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while shooting 41.9% from the field this season. Her nine double-doubles rank second in the Big 12 and 29th nationally. She also sits second in the league in rebounding and 11th in scoring.
  • The Bearcats have logged four double-digit comeback wins this season, including their latest against Arizona State on Jan. 25. Cincinnati is outscoring Big 12 opponents 201-171 in the final frame.
  • Among active career Division I leaders, Hayes ranks first in FT attempts (754), second in FTs made (525), 13th in rebounds (1,036) and 28th in double-doubles (32).
  • The Bearcats secured their best non-conference winning percentage (.800, 8-2) since the 2005-06 season (.909, 10-1).
  • Cincinnati is ranked 75th nationally in the Feb. 3 NET, while Iowa State comes in at 40th.
