CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams concluded their final dual meet of the season on Saturday at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
Freshman Ramez Diaa led the divers by setting a new school record in the platform dive with a score of 385.13, placing him second overall. Langely Petersen finished second on the platform, notching a score of 255.83.
The Bearcats began the day taking home third in the women's 200-yard medley relay. The team of Ellie Schrank, Joleigh Crye, Julie Rose and Jessica Davis recorded a time of 1:38.20. On the men's side, Hunter Gubeno, Dean Sherrer, Marin De Villard and Maksim Maskalenka finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:22.90.
Juniors Joleigh Crye and Payton Woodring secured event wins for Cincinnati in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.52) and 200-yard backstroke (1:59.92), respectively. Graduate student Max Murray contributed with two second place finishes in the 1650-yard freestyle (15:25.16) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:28.30).
Freshman Kate Mardis grabbed a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 55.12. Gubeno claimed two second place finishes as well, recording a time of 1:36.23 in the 200-yard freestyle and a 1:42.70 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Both the Cincinnati men's and women's teams were defeated by Louisville, with scores of 209-84 and 210-87, respectively.
Cincinnati will return to action on Feb. 25 for the 2025 Big 12 Conference Championship in Federal Way, Wash.
