TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis moves to 4-1 after taking down Butler, 7-0, at the Western Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon.
UC captured the doubles point after securing matches on courts two and three.
The sophomore duo of Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe dominated their match, winning 6-0 on court No. 2, improving their doubles record to 3-1, while graduate student Zeynep Erman and senior Callie Flanagan cruised to a 6-2 victory on court No. 3.
Cincinnati continued its dominance in singles, as they took all seven contests.
Watanabe led the way, quickly taking down Emma Beavin, 6-1, 6-0, to give UC its first singles win.
On court No. 1, Erman was in a back-and-forth battle against Chase Metcalf. The Istanbul, Turkey native eventually overpowered Metcalf and took the match 6-4, 6-3, keeping her singles record unblemished at 5-0.
The sweep was rounded out by junior Isabel Pacheco on court No. 6, the Florida native defeated Lauren Cook, 6-3, 7-6 (5).
