WACO, Texas – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team could not overcome a hot-shooting Baylor squad, falling 98-59 on Sunday afternoon in Waco.
Cincinnati (13-7, 5-5) was paced by freshman Chloe Mann and fifth year Jillian Hayes, who accounted for 41 of the Bearcats' 59 points. Mann finished with a career-high 26 points, including a 10-of-13 mark from the stripe. Hayes added 15 for her 16th double-digit scoring performance of the season.
Baylor shot a sizzling 60% from deep with 17 three-pointers on 28 attempts.
The Bears got out to a 14-3 start at the first quarter media timeout. Hayes and A'riel Jackson made back-to-back jumpers to cut the Bearcats' deficit to 12 after one (21-9).
Mann accounted for UC's first five points of the second quarter (24-14). Baylor then used a trio of three-pointers to extend its lead to 20 with four minutes remaining (35-15). Cincinnati responded with an 8-2 run over a minute (37-23), but a late BU 3-pointer gave the Bears a 42-25 lead heading into the locker room.
