Bearcats Fall to Golden Eagles on Thursday

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team fought hard but ultimately fell short against Marquette, 15-9, on a frigid day inside Nippert Stadium.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team fought hard but ultimately fell short against Marquette, 15-9, on a frigid day inside Nippert Stadium.

Graduate student Lauren Ottensmeyer led the charge with a well-rounded performance, netting three goals and dishing out an assist.

Freshman Paige Selhorn and junior Camryn Callaghan each added two goals, while junior Lexie Wolfe and sophomore Hailey Joy Simpson chipped in one apiece.

Despite taking more total shots (34-29), the Bearcats were only able to convert on nine of them.

Defensively, Cincinnati forced an impressive 19 turnovers. However, the Golden Eagles capitalized on their opportunities, converting 4 of 7 free-position shots, which secured them the victory. 

UC will travel to Kent, Ohio to take on the Golden Flashes on Sunday. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. inside Dix Stadium.
