CINCINNATI – The No. 23-ranked Cincinnati baseball team continues its road trip out west this weekend with a four-game series at UC San Diego.
The series begins on Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. ET and game two will also start at 9:00 p.m. ET. Game three on Saturday is set for 4:00 p.m. ET and first pitch for the finale on Sunday is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET. All four games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
This is the first time the Bearcats and Tritons have ever faced off against each other.
After entering the D1Baseball Top 25 for the first time last week, Cincinnati moved two spots up to No. 23 this past Monday. UC is the highest-ranked Big 12 school in the poll and above No. 25 TCU.
Following the four games against the Tritons, Cincinnati will return home to host Toledo on Wednesday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. for its home opener. It will be the start of the six-game homestand for the Bearcats, who welcome Canisius for a four-game series March 7-9 and host Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday, March 11.
// LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati battled UNLV to a series split in Vegas over the weekend, winning games one and three but losing games two and four.
Game one was a 6-0 shutout as Kellen O'Connor, Carson Marsh, Joel Pineiro, and Max Bergmann combined to blank the Rebels. Game three was a much different story as the Bearcats had to come back from a two-run deficit in the ninth inning to win, a rally that was capped by Jack Natili's game-winning base hit.
Cincinnati's two losses were both by one run, a 5-4 loss on Saturday and a 7-6 loss on Monday. All three of UC's losses this season have been by one run.
Cal Sefcik and Kory Klingenbeck both slugged two homers in the UNLV series and were two of the four players to tally three RBI. Tommy O'Connor and Landyn Vidourek also drove in three runs.
Nathan Taylor was outstanding in game two, striking out a career-best 11 hitters in six shutout innings.
