TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team improves to 5-1 after defeating Western Kentucky, 6-1, at the Western Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon.
UC notched the doubles point after claming courts two and three.
The sophomore pair of Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe continue to dominate this season as they won their contest 6-0 on court No. 2, improving their doubles record to 4-1, while senior Callie Flanagan and freshman Milica Popovski battled to a 6-4 victory on court No. 3 in their first doubles match as a duo.
Cincinnati continued its good play in singles, as the Bearcats notched five courts.
Watanabe secured the first singles point after defeating Elizabeth Sobieski, 6-1, 6-3. The match was clinched when sophomore Gabrielle Guenther took down Mia Miranda, 6-4, 6-4, giving Cincinnati its fourth point.
The match was finished out on court No. 6 where junior Isabel Pacheco came out on the right side of a three-set battle, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (8).
