CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team welcomes the Wofford Terriers to Nippert Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. and the first 50 students who are members on the Ruckus Rewards Student Rewards Program will receive a free Hot Head burrito or bowl gift card.

THE RUNDOWN

  • The Bearcats bounced back this past Sunday with a 13-9 victory over Eastern Michigan. 
  • This will be the second all-time matchup between the Bearcats and the Terriers as Cincinnati won the first game, 15-11, on March 14, 2024. 
  • Senior Alexis Rich and Junior Lexie Wolfe both were busy this week earning Big 12 Weekly accolades. Rich was named Defender of the Week and Wolfe was named Midfielder of the Week. 
  • Rich and Wolfe are tied for second in the conference with 1.67avg/g caused turnovers per game. 
  • Wolfe notched a career-high four goals against No. 21 Ohio State last Friday. 
  • Graduate student Lauren Ottensmeyer looks to stay hot as she added five goals against Eastern Michigan. 
  • Ottensmeyer currently leads the Big 12 in scoring with 36 goals. She is tied for second in the nation for for total goals with 36 and is 11th in goals per game (4.00 avg/g).
  • Sophomore Paige Selhorn catapulted herself into the top ten in the nation for total assists.  She is tied for seventh with 24. 
  • Selhorn is also tied for 18th in the nation for assists per game with 2.677 (avg/g).
  • Head coach Gina Thomas  heads into her 13th year at the helm as the Bearcats embark on their inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference.  
  • Cincinnati completed its full transition to the Big 12 with the addition of lacrosse, marking a significant milestone for the athletic department.  
  • The Bearcats return 23 letterwinners, including seven starters. Key returners include three of the top five scorers from last season: Lauren Ottensmeyer (57 goals), Camryn Callaghan (56 goals) and  Hailey Joy Simpson (20 goals).  
  • The Bearcats welcome 12 freshmen and two transfers to the 2025 roster.  
  • Freshman  Paige Selhorn looks to make an immediate impact in the attacker role. The New York native finished her high school career with 155 goals, Conference Player of the Year and Academic All-American honors.  
  • Junior attack  Camryn Callaghan, named to the First Team All-AAC in 2024, continues to shine with preseason All-Big 12 honors. She became the quickest freshman in program history to achieve 100 career goals.  
  • Graduate student  Lauren  Ottensmeyer  and senior Alexis Rich also earned preseason honors, with Ottensmeyer ranking second in the AAC for goals per game (3.35) and leading in shots per game (8.35).
