TicketsTUSCON, Ariz. – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team (6-6) fell to Arizona, 4-0, at the LaNelle Robson Center on Friday afternoon.
The doubles point was closely contested, coming down to a tie break on court No. 2. The sophomore pair of Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe narrowly fell 7-6 (7), this notched the first point of the match for Arizona.
The Bearcats snagged court three with a 6-2 victory from graduate student Zeynep Erman and senior Callie Flanagan. Arizona grabbed court one after a 6-1 victory.
In singles, the Wildcats won three matchups to clinch the match, leaving three contests unfinished.
The Bearcats were battling on courts one, five and six when the match was secured. Erman, junior Isabel Pacheco and Watanabe all fell in set one, but were putting together good second sets.
Erman dropped set one, 7-5, and was winning set two, 4-3. Pacheco fell in set one, 6-2, but had a change of pace in set two as it was knotted 5-5. Watanabe lost set one 6-3 and was barley trailing 5-4 in set two when the match wrapped up.
