TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Cincinnati baseball team concluded its weekend series at Arizona on Sunday, falling to the Wildcats by a score of 11-1.
 
The Wildcats (15-4, 3-0) led 7-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, but scored four more to make it 11-1. The Bearcats (11-9 0-3) were retired in order in the top of the seventh, enacting the 10-run rule and ending the game.
 
Senior Tommy O'Connor drove in the lone UC run on a leadoff homer in the sixth, his third home run of the year. Redshirt junior Joel Pineiro made the start on the mound and was relieved by freshman Hudson Johnson and sophomore Carson Marsh.
 
Cincinnati returns home this week and opens an eight-game homestand on Thursday vs. BYU. The three-game series vs. the Cougars will be followed by non-conference games vs. Butler on Sunday and Louisville the following Tuesday. UCF comes to town the weekend of March 28-30 to conclude the eight-game stretch at home.
 
// HOW IT HAPPENED
Arizona opened the scoring in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. It added three runs in the third and three in the fifth to go up 7-0.
 
Tommy O'Connor led off the top of the sixth with a home run to get the Bearcats on the board, but the Wildcats responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. After UC was sent down in order in the top of the seventh, the 10-run rule was brought into play to end the game.
