EMMITSBURG, Md. – The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team defeated the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers, 13-10, on Monday afternoon in Emmitsburg, Md.
The Bearcats were led by graduate students Lauren Ottensmeyer and Julie Rose who each recorded a trio of goals. Ottensmeyer claimed her eighth hat trick of the season, while Rose earned her first.
Junior Camryn Callaghan and sophomore Paige Counts recorded two goals apiece alongside contributions from sophomore Ally Keith and juniors Lexie Wolfe and Sophia Passa.
After falling behind 2-0 early in the first quarter, Cincinnati quickly responded with three consecutive goals. Ottensmeyer got things rolling with a free-position goal at the 10:09 mark, followed by Wolfe and Keith finding the back of the net to give the Bearcats a 3-2 lead after one quarter.
Despite a strong effort from the Mountaineers in the second half, Cincinnati maintained control. Rose and Counts added goals in the third quarter, while Callaghan and Rose tallied goals in the final frame to secure the victory.
