CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball redshirt senior Kerrington Cross was named Co-Player of the Week by the Big 12 Conference on Monday following his performance last week in games vs. No. 18 Louisville and UCF.
Cross was incredible last week, helping Cincinnati go 4-0 at home against the Cardinals and Knights. He reached base at least four times in all four games, posting a .773 on-base percentage. As UC's leadoff hitter, his ability to get on base was integral to the team's success this past weekend.
Cross went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and a home run vs. #18 Louisville to start the week off. He then had a 3-for-3 day with a home run and reached base five times in the series opener vs. UCF, the start of an incredible weekend against the Knights. Cross had two hits and walked twice in game two, adding a sac fly as well, and he reached four times on Sunday (3 HBP, 1 BB) to help the Bearcats complete the sweep. Cross now sits second in the Big 12 with a .448 batting average, a figure that also ranks 12th nationally.
