CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving program will have five athletes heading to the 2025 Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The women's championships will be held at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Wash., from March 19-22. All events will be streamed on ESPN+.
Junior Joleigh Crye will return to the national stage for the third time in a row and compete as a member of the 200-yard medley relay team as well as defend her Honorable Mention All-American status in the 100-yard breaststroke. She was also invited to compete in the 100-yard butterfly.
Joining Crye in the women's relay will be graduate student Jessica Davis and freshmen Kate Mardis and Ellie Schrank. This will be the first time since 1986 that Cincinnati had a relay qualify for the NCAA Championships.
"I am very excited to have a group of women representing UC at the national championship meet," said head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle. "It is the first time in almost 40 years we have competed a relay and these girls have a lot more in them that they will be bringing back to Seattle in a few weeks."
Sophomore Lindi Worrell will come and serve as an alternate.
Crye is the first Bearcat to qualify for three-straight championships since Jacqueline Kiere did so in 2014-2016. The Avon, N.Y. native secured her invitation to the championships after securing the Big 12 title in the 100-yard breaststroke last weekend.
"Joleigh has been a superstar this year and I know has her sights set on improving at NCAAs," said Commons-DiSalle. "She is in a great position to do so and I am looking forward to seeing her shine.
Davis has been a strong performer for the Bearcats over her five years in the program. At this year's Big 12 Championship, she grabbed podium finishes in each of her events: 50-yard freestyle (seventh), 200-yard freestyle (eighth), 100-yard freestyle (fifth).
Schrank has made a name for herself in her rookie season, claiming the 50-yard backstroke at the Ohio State Invitational this past fall. At the Big 12 Championship, she finished 15th in the 100-yard backstroke and 20th in the 200-yard backstroke.
Mardis has also found success in her first year as a Bearcat. At the Big 12 Championship, she finished seventh in the 100-yard butterfly, 17th in the 50-yard freestyle and 19th in 100-yard freestyle.
