KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The No. 10 seed University of Cincinnati women's basketball team fell to No. 15 seed Arizona State in the first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship on Wednesday night inside the T-Mobile Center.
Trailing by as many as 19, the Bearcats made it a three-point game with under two minutes remaining. However, the comeback attempt fell short as Arizona State held on for the 82-75 decision.
Sophomore Reagan Jackson led the Bearcats in scoring with 22 points. She made a career-high six three-pointers on 11 attempts. Tineya Hylton scored 15 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter while Jillian Hayes narrowly missed out on a double-double, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Bearcats struggled from the free throw line, going just 14-of-27 (.519). Conversely, the Sun Devils capitalized at the line and made 24-of-30 attempts (.800) while shooting a blistering 50% from the floor.
A trio of three-pointers gave UC an 11-6 lead to start the game. Hylton hit the first, followed by consecutives treys from Reagan Jackson. Arizona State responded with an 8-0 run before Hayes and Ramiyah Byrd scored back-to-back layups. The Sun Devils notched the final five points of the period to lead 19-15.

A Chloe Mann 3-pointer, followed by an and-one from Reagan Jackson brought the Bearcats within six with 4:43 left (32-27).
