CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team will look to continue its winning ways this weekend when it visits Texas Tech for a three-game series.
First pitch for Friday's series opener was moved up to 3:00 p.m. ET due to projected inclement weather in the area that night. Saturday's game is still scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET and first pitch on Sunday is set for 2:00 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to keep an eye on Cincinnati Baseball's social media channels for any potential schedule updates or changes.
All three games this weekend will on ESPN+.
Cincinnati and Texas Tech have battled just once on the diamond, and it was in last season's Big 12 Tournament. The Red Raiders bested the Bearcats, 10-5, in that game.
Following this weekend's series, Cincinnati will participate in the Joe Nuxhall Classic next week at Prasco Park. UC will face Wright State on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. before facing either Miami (Ohio) or Xavier on Wednesday. Admission, parking, and concessions are free for all attendees at Prasco Park.
// KERRINGTON CROSS NAMED BIG 12 CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK (MARCH 31)
There aren't many hitters who are as hot as Kerrington Cross right now, and the redshirt senior was awarded with a Big 12 weekly honor earlier this week. He reached base at least four times in all four games, posting a .773 on-base percentage. As UC's leadoff hitter, his ability to get on base was integral to the team's success last weekend.
Cross is putting together a remarkable season and ranks among the national leaders in both batting average (.440, 16th) and on-base percentage (.559, 6th).
// ABOUT TEXAS TECH
Texas Tech brings an 8-17 overall record into play this weekend and a 4-5 ledger in Big 12 Conference play. The Red Raiders will be looking to snap a four-game losing skid after dropping a midweek contest to Oklahoma on Tuesday and getting swept at Kansas State this past weekend. Logan Hughes has been one of the top sluggers in the conference, ranking third with nine home runs and leading Texas Tech with 31 RBI. They have played a difficult schedule thus far, the third-toughest in the country according to opponent winning percentage (.656). TTU opened the year with series vs. North Carolina and UC Irvine and has also faced Texas and Kansas State.
