CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team returns to Nippert Stadium to host the UC Davis Aggies on Friday night. Opening draw is set for 6 p.m.
THE RUNDOWN
- The Bearcats look to bounce back after dropping their conference opener against Arizona State, 14-12, last Saturday.
- Cincinnati remains fourth in the Big 12 as UC Davis sits at the bottom of the rankings.
- This will be the second overall meeting between the two programs, first in seven years as they faced off in the Cincinnati's inaugural season as a program back in 2008. UC Davis claimed the victory.
- Against the Sun Devils, sophomore Hailey Joy Simpson picked up right where she left off, recording her third hat trick of the season. Freshman Paige Selhorn followed suit with three goals and two assists. Five other Bearcats contributed to scoring, led by junior Sophia Passa notching two.
- Cincinnati kept it close with the projected conference title winners, never being down by more than three goals.
- The Bearcats boast at least five different scorers in 11 of their 13 games this season. Leading the way is Lauren Ottensmeyer with 48 and Camryn Callaghan with 37.
- Hailey Simpson has dominated the draw circle, notching a team high 35 draw controls. Lexie Wolfe is right behind with 33.
- Hailey Darko has stepped in and found her groove in the cage this season. She has tallied five or more saves in nine games this season, including 10 vs. ASU and a career-high 12 vs. Georgetown.
- Freshman Paige Selhorn has made an immediate impact and sprung into the national rankings.
- With her 39 total assists, she is fifth in Division I, making her the only freshman within the top ten.
- She sits third in the Big 12 for assists per game (2.86 avg/g) and has nine games with three or more assists, including a career high 5, three times. She matches that ranking in points per game with 4.29 avg/g.
- Graduate student Lauren Ottensmeyer has found herself among the nation's best. She sits sixth in the country for total goals with 48. Camryn Callaghan joins her at 24th with 37. Both are in the top ten in the Big 12 for goals per game sitting second and seventh, respectively.
- Ottensmeyer leads the conference in shots per game with 113.
- Cincinnati leads the Big 12 in caused turnovers per game with 10.29 avg/g.
