HOCKLEY, Texas – The University of Cincinnati women's golf team battled through windy conditions in the final round of the Big 12 Championships on Thursday.
Junior Yu-Wei Chiang guided the Bearcats through blustery conditions in Houston, where wind gusts reached up to 40 miles per hour. She posted a four-over-par (75) in the final round, highlighted by a birdie on a lengthy par five. Chiang showed significant improvement, cutting seven strokes from her second-round score.
Graduate student Ruby Chou wrapped up the tournament in a tie for 25th place, her fifth top-25 finish of the season. She paced the Bearcats with a team-best five birdies throughout the event.
Mar Garcia (T31), Rim Imni (T45), Yu-Wei Chiang (T57) and Minoo Mousavi (67) followed in order.
Cincinnati finished 13th overall with a team total of 908. Oklahoma State, Arizona State, and Arizona shared the Big 12 Championship crown, each posting a score of 871. Kansas State's Sophie Bert claimed the individual title with a tournament-best two-under-par 211.
