CINCINNATI — Cincinnati men's basketball head coach Wes Miller has announced the signing of forward Jalen Haynes to the 2025-26 roster, the Bearcats' third transfer of the offseason.
Haynes, at 6-foot-8 and 265 pounds, was a First Team All-Atlantic 10 honoree at George Mason last year, averaging 14.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He also averaged 21.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 3.0 apg in the conference tournament to earn accolades there as well.
"Jalen Haynes is a beast," said head coach Wes Miller. "He brings a level of physicality to our frontcourt that will translate immediately in the Big 12. He plays with a high motor, he attacks the backboards and he values winning. Offensively, he brings a diverse and valuable skill set to our team. He can really score, but he also has the ability to generate offensive opportunities for his teammates."
The native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., also had 18 points and seven rebounds at Final Four-bound Duke. Other key games included 15 points and 12 boards against Tulane (one of his five double-doubles) and a season-high 25 points versus Fordham.
Haynes redshirted the 2023-24 season, his first at GMU, following a Third Team All-SoCon campaign at East Tennessee State in 2022-23. He averaged 14.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest for the Bucs, including a career-high 27 points against Mercer. He also scored 21 at Georgia and 20-plus five times over a six-game stretch in league play.
He has also displayed an incredible knack for getting to the foul line, earning 361 attempts over the last two seasons. His 187 this year would mark the most by a Bearcat since Jarron Cumberland in 2018-19.
Haynes appeared in nine games at Virginia Tech as a true freshman in 2021-22 following his high school career at Dillard High School and Montverde Academy.
