CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team needed a win on Sunday to complete the sweep vs. Oklahoma State but wound up on the losing end of an 8-1 decision.

The Cowboys (19-21, 7-12 Big 12) piled it on in the middle innings, and the Bearcats' (24-20, 10-11 Big 12) couldn't figure out opposing starting pitcher Sean Youngerman, collecting just three hits against the righty.

Cincinnati had already won the series thanks to two wins on Saturday, and has now won four Big 12 series this season.

Freshman Quinton Coats homered to supply the lone UC run of the game, his second home run of the season. Fellow freshman Derrick Pitts doubled, giving both rookies extra-base hits.

Six different pitchers saw time on the mound on Sunday. Redshirt senior Max Bergmann returned to action and struck out two. Sophomore Carson Marsh got the start and had six strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

Cincinnati hits the road this weekend for an 11-day road trip that will begin at Kansas this upcoming weekend. A midweek contest at Oral Roberts will be followed by a weekend series at TCU the following weekend.
