TicketsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The University of Cincinnati women's golf team completed the Boilermaker Spring Classic and finished in third place on Monday.
Junior Mar Garcia led the Bearcats throughout all three rounds, shooting back-to-back two-under par (70) scores on the opening day. In the final round, she led the team again with a one-over par (73) and finished the tournament in third place. This marks the highest finish of her collegiate career and the best result for any Bearcat this season. As the team heads into the Big 12 Championships, Garcia also leads UC with a season-low stroke average of 74.53.
Graduate student Ruby Chou made a 40-spot jump after firing a two-under par (70) in the second round. She finished the tournament tied for 20th place, marking her fourth top 25 finish of the season.
Cincinnati's second-round score of 286 ranks as the fourth lowest of the season, contributing to their second-best finish of the year.
Yu-Wei Chiang (T33), Minoo Mousavi (T48) and Lauren Pleiman (T84) followed in order.
Illinois captured the team title with a score of 875, while Illinois State's Elise Fennell took home the individual title with a tournament-best seven-under par (209).
