LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Cincinnati men's and women's track and field teams completed day two competition at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships hosted at the Rock Chalk Park on Friday.
The Bearcats crowned an event winner, secured seven podium spots, advanced two additional athletes to event finals, and saw five more competitors record performances ranking in UC's all-time top ten.
The UC men's squad presently ranks fifth in the 16-team competition with 24.33 points accumulated. Meanwhile, the women's team holds the seventh position after securing 21 points. BYU commands the lead in both divisions, having compiled 58.66 points in the men's category and 49.5 points in the women's standings.
Cincinnati shot putters dominated, as three notched points. Graduate student Fred Moudani-Likibi captured the men's title with a season-best heave of 20.28m. Fellow graduate student Korbin Spencer shattered his personal record three consecutive times throughout the competition, ultimately launching an impressive 18.50m throw to secure eighth place. In the women's competition, graduate student Amanda Ngandu Ntumba uncorked a personal-best throw of 16.33m to claim third place, adding to Cincinnati's impressive showing in the field events.
Sophomore Juliette Laracuente-Huebner secured second place in the Heptathlon with 5,551 total points, achieving top-five finishes in five of the seven events. The Marengo, Ohio native claimed first place in the high jump with a 1.72m leap, earning 879 points. She also captured second place in the long jump with a 5.91m effort, adding 822 points to her total.
Graduate student Justin Abrams finished eighth in the Decathlon, accumulating 5,169 points and placing seventh or better in four of the ten events. He performed strongest in the high jump, where his 2.02m mark earned third place and 822 points, and in the pole vault, where he reached 4.91m for third place and 883 points.
Two UC jumpers contributed valuable points to the Bearcats' team total. Junior Robert Hart secured sixth place in the long jump with an impressive 7.15m effort. Meanwhile, in the high jump competition, junior Joel Addo cleared 2.01m to claim eighth place overall.
Day three competition begins with the men's and women's discus at 3 p.m. ET, followed by running events at 6:05 p.m. ET.

Freshman Macaela Walker and sophomore Davenae Fagan advanced to Saturday's finals following impressive preliminary showings.
Walker claimed third place in the 100-meter hurdles, setting a personal record with a time of 13.21 seconds. She will compete for a conference title Saturday at 6:55 p.m. ET.
Fagan earned her finals berth in the 400-meter dash by finishing sixth in the preliminary round, clocking 53.39 seconds. Her championship race is set for Saturday at 7:15 p.m. ET.
