KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Cincinnati baseball team held practice at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Thursday ahead of its NCAA Tournament matchup vs. Wake Forest on Friday in Knoxville.
 
Cincinnati, the No. 3 seed in the Knoxville Regional, will face the No. 2 seed Demon Deacons at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+. The host and No. 14 national seed Tennessee will face No. 4 seed Miami (Ohio) Friday night at 6:00 p.m. ET. Mike Monaco will be on the call and Kyle Peterson will provide analysis in Knoxville.
 
Head Coach Jordan Bischel, who took Central Michigan to NCAA Regionals in 2019, 2021, and 2022, is bringing the Bearcats to the national tournament in his second season with the team. Cincinnati boasts a 32-24 overall record this season and won six Big 12 series, including series wins against NCAA Tournament participants Kansas, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State. UC has six wins against Top 25 opponents this season as well, a school record. Individually, The Bearcats had six all-conference selections and Big 12 Player of the Year Kerrington Cross, the fifth conference player of the year honoree in program history. 
 
The 64-team field is broken up into 16, four-team regionals that feature a double-elimination format. Regional winners will advance to NCAA Super Regionals at campus sites to be determined. Super Regional play begins Friday, June 6 and the Men's College World Series in Omaha, Neb. will begin Friday, June 13.

// ALL-TIME SERIES VS. WAKE FOREST
Friday's regional contest will be the ninth game all-time between Cincinnati and Wake Forest, with the Demon Deacons owning a 6-2 advantage in the series. All eight games in the series have been played in Winston-Salem. The last meeting came in 2014 at the Wake Forest Invitational, a game that Cincinnati won 5-0. Former Bearcat and MLB All-Star and Gold Glove Award winner Ian Happ batted second in the lineup for UC that game, driving in two runs.
 
// ABOUT WAKE FOREST
Wake Forest is making its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, and is one of just 17 Division I programs to earn a tournament berth in each of the last four seasons. The Demon Deacons are 36-20 overall this season and owns an all-time NCAA Tournament record of 52-35. They put three players on All-ACC teams, with Blake Morningstar (1st Team), Kade Lewis (2nd Team) and Marek Houston (3rd Team) all earning postseason recognitions from the conference. Wake Forest can mash with the best of them, its 100 home runs this year ranking tied for 11th in the country. Since the start of the 2022 season, Wake Forest has hit 465 home runs, which is third in Division I.
