CINCINNATI – In preparation for the 2025-26 season, the Cincinnati women's basketball team will take part in a once-in-a-lifetime foreign tour of Rome, Italy this August.
The seven-day expedition will kick off on August 2. The Bearcats will fly into Rome and make stops in Naples and Capri.
"This trip to Italy couldn't come at a better time with our large group of newcomers," said head coach Katrina Merriweather. "We appreciate the opportunity to compete, build chemistry, and expand our cultural awareness. Thank you to John Cunningham and all the people who made this experience possible. Go Bearcats!"
The Bearcats will compete against two international teams during their time in Rome. Games are set for August 4 and August 7; opponents to be announced.
In addition to the games, the Bearcats will be afforded a number of opportunities to experience the country's culture, take guided tours of the renowned areas of the city and sample the regional cuisine during the trip.
NCAA programs are allowed to take foreign trips once every four years, with the 2025 tour marking the first under Merriweather at Cincinnati. As part of the foreign tour, the NCAA will grant Cincinnati 10 additional practices prior to the trip.
Cincinnati has eight newcomers on its roster for the 2025-26 campaign and is coming off its first winning season in five years. The Bearcat communication staff will be in Italy with the team providing coverage throughout the seven-day trek, so be sure to tune in to @gobearcatswbb social pages.
