Sorsby will be looking to build off a successful debut season with the Bearcats in 2024. Last year, he was one of just three FBS quarterbacks to throw for at least 2,500 yards and 15 touchdowns while also rushing for at least nine scores. Including his time at Indiana, Sorsby has 33 career passing touchdowns and 13 career rushing touchdowns with just 12 interceptions. He was the only FBS quarterback last year to log both a 425-yard passing game and a 125-yard rushing game.
The contrast between his familiarity with the playbook in his second year and a wide receiver room full of newcomers isn’t lost on Sorsby. But he isn’t shying away from it; he’s embracing it.
“I’ve been putting in a lot of extra work with those guys,” Sorsby said. “So I know the chemistry is there. When we do miss something in practice, we go through it in film together or we’ll text about it at night to get it corrected. I trust them and they trust me.”
Sorsby has been more vocal with his receivers during the first two practices of fall camp, a testament his confidence heading into his second season as a Bearcat and his knowledge of the offense.
“My comfortability with the playbook this year compared to last year is night and day,” Sorsby said. “They know what they’re doing too, I’m just able to verify with them as they’re running their route. Being able to communicate with those guys about that is nice.”
