CINCINNATI – Several members of the University of Cincinnati baseball program participated in summer ball this summer, playing in leagues all over the country against top competition

Below is a snapshot of how some of the Bearcats performed this summer, by league:

Cape Cod League

Junior Jack Natili appeared in 37 games for the Cotuit Kettleers, batting .248 with six doubles, six home runs and 24 RBI. He picked up a variety of accolades over the summer including Cotuit Kettleers Position Player of the Year, Cape League Player of the Week (July 5 - July 11), and a CCBL All Star nod at catcher.

Junior relief pitcher Carson Marsh pitched well for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, notching a 1.69 ERA and only surrendering one earned run in four appearances out of the bullpen.

Junior outfielder Cal Sefcik impressed in limited action with the Bourne Braves, slashing .400/.422/.433 over the course of 16 games. Incoming transfer RHP Dominic Mauro joined Sefcik in Bourne, posting a stellar 2.38 ERA and collecting two saves in six relief appearances. The Bourne Braves captured the prestigious CCBL Championship with a 19-2 victory over Yarmouth-Dennis.

Northwoods League

Redshirt freshman Ryan Tyranski was a star player for the Royal Oak Leprechauns, batting .310 with 19 extra-base hits, six home runs, 48 RBI and 22 stolen bases. Tyranski also picked up Northwoods League All-Star honors and was featured on Sportscenter's Top 10 plays in July.

 

Sophomore catcher Parker McDaniels joined Tyranski in Royal Oak, collecting 17 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 26 walks in 31 games.

Big 12 All-Freshman honoree Quinton Coats lit up the Northwoods League as a member of the Eau Claire Express, batting .277 with 10 extra-base hits, five home runs, 18 RBI and 19 walks drawn in 25 games.

 

Sophomore pitcher Hudson Johnson rounded out the quartet of Bearcats in the Northwoods League, posting a 2-1 record with a 3.97 ERA.

Coastal Plain League

Down in the Coastal Plain League, Bearcats redshirt sophomore Charlie Niehaus appeared in 15 games for the Boone Bigfoots, collecting nine hits, six RBI and six runs scored.

 

 

New England Collegiate Baseball League

Incoming transfer Conlan Daniel impressed with the Vermont Mountaineers, batting .250, driving in 12 runs and collecting an incredible 31 stolen bases. The Cincinnati native also picked up NECBL All-Star honors in July.

 

Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League

Transfer pitcher Charlie Dieruf stayed local over the summer, suiting up for the Hamilton Joes and striking out 22 batters in 17.0 innings of work.

Appalachian League

Two Bearcats spent their summers with the Bristol State Liners: incoming freshman Joe DuSell appeared in 30 games, playing every position in the outfield while making six relief appearances on the mound. Returning pitcher Adam Buczkowski continued to flash out of the bullpen, striking out 34 batters in just 19.1 innings pitched.

 

 

Sophomore outfielder Derrick Pitts impressed with the Kingsport Axmen, batting .272 with 12 extra-base hits, three home runs, 25 RBI and 34 runs scored.

Another duo of Bearcats suited up for the Tri-State Coal Cats: sophomore pitcher Brendin Oliver started six games, striking out 23 batters in 28.2 innings pitched. Incoming freshman outfielder Luke Kosko also posted a solid campaign, batting .243 with 14 RBI, 24 walks and 20 runs scored.

Last but not least, redshirt freshman catcher Gavin Brewer appeared in 13 games for the Danville Otterbots, posting a .431 OBP with six RBI and 15 walks.

Prospect League

Transfer infielder Jackson Smith had a stellar campaign with the Normal CornBelters, batting .331, 11 extra-base hits, 22 RBI and 23 stolen bases.

Incoming freshman Nolan Jaworowski appeared in 26 games for the O'Fallon Hoots, notching seven extra-base hits, 25 RBI and 20 runs scored.

Incoming freshman Quincy Mazeke flashed in limited action for the Champion City Kings, batting .340 with 16 hits, six RBI and eight stolen bases.
