TicketsCINCINNATI – Cincinnati redshirt junior quarterback Brendan Sorsby was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list on Tuesday.
It’s Sorsby’s fourth major award watch list recognition this preseason. The Denton, Texas native has also earned spots on watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and Manning Award.
Sorsby emerged as one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the county in 2024, his first as a Bearcat. He was the only FBS quarterback last season with 425-yard passing game and a 125-yard running game, and he was one of just four FBS players with at least 2,800 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and nine rushing touchdowns. He completed 249-of-389 passes (64.0%) for 2,813 yards and 18 TDs while adding 447 yards and nine scores on the ground. Sorsby was a two-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

Now in its 39th year, the Golden Arm Award continues to honor excellence both on and off the field. The award is presented by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation in partnership with A. O. Smith Corporation, whose mission aligns with the Foundation’s commitment to advancing the game of football while promoting character, leadership, and academic achievement among young athletes.
The watch list will be narrowed to semifinalists, finalists and one standout quarterback will take home the Golden Arm Award in December. The winner will be celebrated at our annual Golden Arm Award ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Johnny Unitas’ hometown of Baltimore—an unforgettable night honoring leadership, legacy, and the best in college football.
