CINCINNATI – Following his excellent performance vs. Northwestern State on Saturday, redshirt junior quarterback Brendan Sorsby has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
Sorsby was remarkable in the 70-0 win vs. Northwestern State, completing 15-of-15 pass attempts for 253 yards and five touchdowns, while also adding a TD on the ground. He became just the fifth FBS quarterback in the last 30 years to finish a game with a perfect completion percentage on at least 15 pass attempts. His 99.8 QBR is the second-highest in Big 12 history and the highest by a quarterback in the country this year.
All five of Sorsby’s passing touchdowns came in the first quarter, making him the fifth FBS quarterback since 1995 to throw five touchdowns in a quarter. His five TDs set a school record for most passing touchdowns in a quarter and in a half.
Behind Sorsby’s play, Cincinnati threw for a school-record seven touchdowns vs. the Demons on Saturday.
Through three games this season, Sorsby is 45-for-64 (70.3%) passing with 655 yards and eight touchdowns, and he also leads the Bearcats in rushing yards (175) and touchdowns (four).
