CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team hits the road for a three-day road stint at the Chattanooga Classic, beginning on Thursday.
The Bearcats kick off the tournament with Ohio University on Thursday (6 p.m.), followed by Jacksonville State on Friday (3 p.m.). Cincinnati will take on Alabama on Saturday at 3 p.m.
All three matches will be available through live stats.
Head coach Danijela Tomić earned her first win as bench boss of the University of Cincinnati volleyball team with a 3-1 victory over Wake Forest.
The Bearcats return 10 players from a season ago, while also welcoming eight newcomers to Cincinnati, including five freshmen and three transfers.
SERIES HISTORY
vs. OHIO: The Bobcats and Bearcats have met 26 times since 1972, most recently in 2013. The Bearcats lead 18-8 in the overall series.
vs. JACKSONVILLE STATE: UC has a 1-0 advantage in the series with the first and only meeting dating back to 2005.
vs. ALABAMA: Cincinnati leads the overall series 3-0. This marks the first meeting between the two teams since 1990.
OPENING WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS
The Bearcats opened the 2025 season with a four-set victory over the Demon Deacons.
Against the Demon Deacons, Sydney Nolan (21k) and Carly Glendinning (15k) were the two Bearcats with double-digit kills. Glendinning added her eighth career double-double with 11 digs.
The Bearcats shined on the defensive end with 14 blocks, with seven and six coming from Brooke Crummel and Tatjana Simeunović, respectively. The duo made their collegiate debuts in the match.
Cincinnati fell to Michigan, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon, splitting the opening weekend slate.
Nolan recorded her fifth career game with 20-plus kills with a 20-kill performance against Michigan. Glendinning added 15 kills and five digs.
Against the Wolverines, setter Andi Spies dished out 29 assists for her second straight double-digit performance alongside libero Lilly Gillespie, who anchored the defense with a team-high 19 digs.
