CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s volleyball program secured a four-set victory over Jacksonville State on Friday evening inside McKenzie Arena.

Cincinnati (3-1) saw four Bearcats record double-digit kills: Sydney Nolan (20), Carly Glendinning (10), Gretchen Sigman (10), and Brooke Crummel (10). It marked Nolan’s sixth career match with 20 or more kills and her fourth straight leading the team in that category.

Graduate student McKenzie Johnson anchored the defense with 10 digs, while Nolan and the sophomore duo of Andi Spies and Lilly Gillespie each added nine. Spies also dished out a season-high 46 assists—her fourth consecutive match in double figures and her third with 30-plus.

The Bearcats opened the first set with back-to-back kills from Nolan to take an early 3-0 lead. Jacksonville State briefly pulled ahead (11-10), but UC regained momentum behind a Nolan kill and a block from Tatjana Simeunović. Cincinnati closed out the frame, 25-22, with Nolan tallying seven kills alongside a trio from Sigman.

UC carried that energy into the second stanza, building a lead of as many as seven. Five straight points forced a Jacksonville State timeout, and the Bearcats went on to claim the set 25-18 behind consecutive kills from Crummel. Cincinnati hit .424 in the frame with 17 kills and three service aces.

The third set was tightly contested early before the Bearcats pulled ahead at 13-10. Jacksonville State responded with a 4-0 run to regain control and ultimately take the frame, 25-23.

The Gamecocks jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the fourth, but Cincinnati answered with four straight points to go up by two. Crummel sparked the run with back-to-back kills, and UC later strung together seven consecutive points to pull away (18-11). The Bearcats sealed the set, 25-13, and the match, 3-1.
