CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Northern Kentucky on Sunday night at Gettler Stadium.
The Bearcats move to 2-2-4 on their season.
Both teams fought hard in the first half, but Northern Kentucky capitalized in the 30th minute for a goal before the break.
The Bearcats continued to press after the break, firing off 14 shots and holding the Norse to only one. The breakthrough for the Bearcats came in the 69th minute when senior Claire Rea fired off a goal from the top of the box. She was set up by sophomore Jada Arthurs for the equalizer. It marked Rea's first goal of the season.
Cincinnati put the pressure on throughout the match, outshooting Northern Kentucky 22-6 and having a 14-4 edge in corner kicks.
Graduate goalkeeper Camryn Miller recorded three saves in the draw.
Up next, the Bearcats travel to Houston for their Big 12 opener at 7 p.m. on September 18 inside the Carl Lewis International Complex.
