Cincinnati Earns Big 12 Offensive Line of the Week Honors

Cincinnati’s entire offensive line was honored by the Big 12 Conference on Monday, receiving the league’s Offensive Line of the Week award following its performance vs. Bowling Green.

CINCINNATI – Cincinnati’s entire offensive line was honored by the Big 12 Conference on Monday, receiving the league’s Offensive Line of the Week award following its performance vs. Bowling Green.

The starting offensive line vs. BGSU was redshirt junior Joe Cotton (left tackle), redshirt sophomore Evan Tengesdahl (left guard), redshirt senior Gavin Gerhardt (center), redshirt junior Taran Tyo (right guard), and redshirt senior Deondre Buford (right tackle).

The offensive line was dominant against Bowling Green, allowing zero sacks for the second straight game. The line tallied 18 knockdowns and did a stellar job of protecting quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who passed for 333 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing score. The Bearcats’ offense put up 439 total yards in the win vs. the Falcons.

Individually, Taran Tyo graded out at 98% and overall the unit finished with a 91.4% grade from the coaching staff.

Cincinnati is one of 12 teams in the country to have not allowed a sack yet this season. The O-Line also did not allow a negative rush in the Week 1 matchup vs. Nebraska.
