PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — Ellise Rymer's 2-under 69, powered by five birdies on her back nine, led the Cincinnati women's golf team in Monday's second round action of the Golfweek Fall Challenge.
The Bearcats climbed six spots, second only to Arkansas State's eight for the best jump from Sunday. UC is tied for 10th in the 20-team field with UNC Greensboro and only three strokes from sixth. It was a nine-stroke improvement from the team overall.
Rymer's seven-stroke jump was the key. Her 2-under 69 was a career-low following her freshman year at N.C. State, where she appeared in five tournaments.
Freshman Clara Willem kept it together with a 2-over 73, now tied for 35th and second on the squad. Veterans Rim Imni (tied for 35th) and Mar Garcia (43rd) are next. Garcia was 2-under on her back-nine to finish on a high note.
Charlotte was 11-under on the day to claim the top spot heading into Tuesday's finale.
